Character Spotlight: Mister Mxyzptlk!

Mister Mxyzptlk is a villainous trickster from the fifth dimension that enjoys tormenting Superman and other super powered beings. He isn’t bound by the physical laws of our dimension and he can do things that appear to be magical.

 “Greetings and salutations, Earth idiot.” – Mister Mxyzptlk

Prompted by his endless search for distractions, Mister Mxyzptlk looks for beings from lesser dimensions to harass for his personal amusement. His antics cause chaos until he can be stopped. One way to return him to his home is by tricking him into saying his own name backwards.  Not only will this return him to the fifth dimension, but it will also cause all effects of his magic to vanish with him.

“If Superman can’t force him out of this dimension, no one can.” – Oracle

Mister Mxyzptlk feels that Superman’s generally serious attitude makes him an exceptionally entertaining target for shenanigans. While his pranks are more of an annoyance to the Man of Steel than any actual threat, Superman works to force him out of this dimension every time his hijinks begin.

 “I understand you earth chumps have a legend about little green men.” – Mister Mxyzptlk

In DC Universe Online, Mister Mxyzptlk appears all over Metropolis to play games during the St. Patrick’s Day seasonal event, going on now.  By completing his daily missions, players earn seasonal rewards and the feat “Kltpzyxm.” The name of this feat is the secret of forcing him out of this dimension – Mxyzptlk’s name spelled backwards.

“You’ve pestered me enough for one day. Oh the irony of that statement. Now shoo!”  – Mister Mxyzptlk
